The Nine Piece Band was formed by (ex-Chris Barber) 'Drummer Extraordinaire', Alan 'Sticky' Wicket in the year 2000. Debuting at The 100 Club London in January 2001, they appeared under the name 'The Little Big Band'. Since then, they have performed at major festivals & Swing-Dance events all over the UK, including The Savoy Ball, The Swing-Jam, Marlborough Jazz Festival, Blenheim Palace, The Glitter Ball, Jitterbugs and regular visits to The 100 Club. They also appeared on the BBC TV Homeground documentary 'We'll Meet Again' and met up with The Jiving Lindyhoppers with whom they have collaborated on stage shows.
The 2003 Savoy Ball saw the inauguration of the Fourteen Piece Band by request of the Savoy Ball organiser, Swingland's Martin Ellis. In the wake of this success, the Swing Orchestra was born.
Alan 'Sticky' Wicket is undoubtedly one of Britain’s finest Drummer/Percussionists whose pedigree is beyond question, having worked consistently with the greats, such as: Chris Barber, Steve Gibbons, Lonnie Donnegan and Van Morrison, to name but a few.
